Okee dokee, time for some songage this fine Tuesday!

The Doors - Break on through to the other Side
I don't really have a reason for choosing this, it just stuck out of my mind and I really felt like listening to it. Brilliant!

Late of the Pier - Broken
Something off their recently released debut, Fantasy Black Channel, listened to it just now and rather enjoyed it. So thought it fitting to post here.

Biffy Clyro - Semi-mental
My favourite Biffy song, I love these Scots and really do need to delve into their back catalogue.

The Strokes - The End has no End
To be frank, it doesn't does it? This more mellow Strokes song features a vocally subdued Julian and all round a brilliant song. Love it!

Babyshambles - French Dog Blues
Just a bit of Pete to round off the week. This was the title of their second album till it changed to, not as good in my opinion, Shotter's Nation.

Yeah, a bit electic this week but oh well, all are rather good tracks. Enjoy!

Well I thought I'd write it early, haven't done one for a couple of weeks anyway.

Feral Mare - Christopher
Ok, I do know the drummer, Tom (pictured above), I love this song though. Seeing as I now have a hypem listing I thought I should post this is an effort for the band to get a little more attention. There is a rather big amount of promise there I think.
Myspace

Arctic Monkeys - Flourescent Adolescent (acoustic)
I don't know how/why, but Alex Turner's vocals on this sound much, well human. If that makes sense. There seems to be more behind his voice and the cough he has is just humbling. He's no god, just a great musician/lyricisst. The whole mecca dobber/betting pencil line is hilarious.

Armand Van Helden - You Don't Know Me (GRUM Remix)
Now this is my favourite remix ever, they took a personal favourite dance track and spiced it up, making it ten times better and I just love every second of it. It's just a song that deserves a second, third and fourth consecutive listen. Too me I can see a Justice influence, but I could be wrong. Well done, GRUM

Radiohead - 15 Step (Live @ Lollapalooza 2008)
Regular readers may have read before of my love for Radiohead, I love the band, one of my ambitions is to see them live. This track is a favourite of mine that just somehow sounds amazingly good live, even on recordings, which you have to admit can never compare to being there.

Foals - Olympic Airways
Quite like this new single of Foals, the video is an almost certain head-trip mind-fuck of the Oxford band, it's competely non-senseical but still looks good, Yannis painted black is actually rather interesting, like, how could he have not got it on his face when they're thowing it at him.

I'll be on the college bus by the time this is posted (thanks again to scheduled posting) EEK! I ca't wait for college! YEAH

Here's my 5 tracks for the week

Devo - Whip It
Ah this track is great, can't beat the original. There's something about it that I like, even though the lyrics are quite bizaare

The Strokes - The End has No End
Listening to alot of the Strokes and this is another one I like.

Girl Talk - Bounce That
Possibly my favourite Girl Talk song. It's just an amazingly perfect, daceable tune that has been constructed (or should I say recycled?) effectively. I just love this song and if I ever hear it on a dancefloor, I would dance my heart out.

The Cribs - I've tried Everything
Just for when you're at wits end and I think this is a depressing song, due to it's lyrics. Lamenting no relationship? I'm not entirely sure but saying something's missing insuates to me a lack of girl. It's something I can relate to

Gnarls Barkley - Reckoner (Live Radiohead Cover)
I'm hoping for C-Lo and Dangermouse to do a studio recording of this. This audio is half-decent and you can hear the amazing C-Lo vocals, but I think if they record it they can give it more of a Gnarls Barkley twist.

Ok, first in a while, I need to try and attempt at some regularity. First off, here's my 5 essential tracks for the week.

I think this week the tracks are rather diverse, but I love 'em all.

Sufjan Stevens - Dress looks nice on you
Although I've heard alot ABOUT Sufjan Stevens, this is the first song that I actually HEARD. It's a rather astounding acoustic piece of romantiscism that I really like.

Arctic Monkeys - Bigger Boys and Stolen Sweathearts
A track of Turner and co that was missed off of the debut album, unfairly I thought, it has some very sharp, intelligent lyrics that houses a story I think most guys can relate to, one of my favourites of their back catalogue.

Santogold - Guns of Brooklyn
I love the Clash original, Guns of Brixton and this is an inspired cover, I think it increases the reggae in the song. "You can crush us/You can bruise us/You can even shoot us/But you'll have to answer to/OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOh the Guns of Brooklyn"

Black Kids - Love Me Already
The Black Kids, haven't heard the album yet, but not sure if I want to, they've delivered a couple of reasonably good singles, stormed the airwaves and do I want to hear more? Well I like this track I heard literally mere minutes ago.

James Brown - Get up Offa That Thing
TUNE! You've got to love this song, it's simply an amazing track that can get anyone dancing, made me this morning. It does indeed make you feel better.

I won't be doing Tuesday Tuneage this week, there's no need! The only music I've been listening to recently is the new Girl Talk album and I highly recommend it:

Click here to download it, it's pay what you want so be a pikey and pay nothing, like me.

Every track on the album surprises me with both the extent of variety with the samples he uses and also the broad types of music covered, it branches out from indie to hip hop and nearly anything else you could think of in between

The almost complete list of samples is here on Wikipedia,, it details every track and the samples that make them up.

There are some really good tracks that are used, as said before it comes across a bit nostalgic, because by recognising the tracks it just reminds me how good they are. Here's a few tracks I can remember off the top of my head that stood out in the mash;

Elvis Costello - Pump it Up

Blur - Song 2

Prince - Kiss

Hot Chip - Ready for the Floor

Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Under the Bridge

And as an extra, spot one of these tracks here:
Girl Talk - Here's the Thing

This vid proves he is a genius at what he does

Oops I keep having to delay the editions of this now seemingly irregular piece. And it's not because it takes ages to write it's hosting the files that takes the time. I think I'll begin to write and host like two days in advance. And plus the different computers I use have different mp3 files so I end up swapping having to swap PCs just to finish the post. It's time consuming thats for sure.

Well, I decided to go with my 5 newest favourited tracks on Hype Machine this week, seeing as they normally are an indicator of what my listening habits are. The list is correct at the time of writing though has probably changed, I go on everyday normally adding at least one track per day. It's a great website, now only to get this blog listed there!

As my Dad is a pretty much avid Depeche Mode fan, to say the least, it's made my love of the band strong and particularly this track, probably my favourite of theirs, I pretty much like all of their music as I have heard it so often. There are more than a handful of tracks that sound samey and although for some bands that is a bad thing, I believe it helps Depeche Mode, I could tell one of their tracks a mile off
Depeche Mode - Everything Counts

Told about this by a Punk-loving friend of mine, apparently first punk record in Britain, yeah it's old but it's really good!
The Damned - New Rose (Peel Session)

Probably the best Joy Division cover I have ever heard, this really captures the live essence of the band I think, well of what evidence I've seen, slightly faster, though it omits the originals Nazi Concentration Camp brothel monologue, which although quite harrowing is also an essential part of the song IMO. The beginning bass line is perhaps possibly more menancing than the original song, that really does help and although the vocals don't compare to Ian Curtis, James Murphy does very well indeed here.
LCD Soundsystem - No Love Lost

The newest song this week, The Futureheads, an album highlight;
The Futureheads - Sale of the Century

Increasingly relevant as it gets warmer here in the south of England, also the oldest song this week. I truly love it, the ULTIMATE summer song.
The Beatles - Here comes the Sun

Also I have started the big post, pretty much finished the writing, though it'll probably be published sometime next week or the week after, it's going to have a fair few tracks and maybe 3 or 4 videos on it as well. Also in the pipeline is a recap of the last two months, I was thinking of an mp3 from each post which will end up being 30+ tracks so it'll definitely be something of a metapost.

A few track popping up that I really enjoy, some new and old, ironically started lisening to couple of them as I posted the last edition of Tuesday Tuneage

Such a sexy song! LOL I don't use the term sexy very often. This incredibly catchy and I dare say amazing song needs to be heard if you have not already!
Chromeo- Fancy Footwork

Gnarls Barkley have just leaped up in my books, this has to be their best song without a doubt! A real summer tune as well, and I've found perfect when walking.
Gnarls Barkley - Going On

Got 'Elephant Shell' By Tokyo Police Club, a very solid album that I really like. Got some cracking tunes on there as well.
Tokyo Police Club - Tesselate

Love this new track from Carl Barat and co, just such a brilliant track, got a great catchy edge to it and the very singable chorus and its true how can you be tired of England?
Dirty Pretty Things - Tired of England

Also loving this classic of Daft Punk! Brilliant beat, I love pretty much everyone of their songs, just pure danceable, amazing music
Daft Punk - Robot Rock

Bonus Video Round!
This new song for the music is debatably quite bland and uninteresting but for some reason I really like it, the repetiveness comes across catchy, check it out!

I was going to make Tuesday Tuneage a fortnightly piece as the unfortunate gap worked well I believe. However, a few songs have come to me which I believe need posting! And since I missed last Tuesday, Friday will have to do!

I adore this song by Tokyo Police Club, heard it a little while back, near the begining of the year and now a video has popped up on MTV2 and NME TV, my two favourite music channels, so hearing it again I just now love the song, every fricking second of it!
Tokyo Police Club - In a Cave

This also is really good! Is Ladyhawke a solo artist? Or is it the lead singer and the band, something I would like to know but while I figure that out, enjoy the track
Ladyhawke - Paris is Burning

Going all mod-school with this debut single of the Who, watched part of 'Amazing Journey' - really well made and directed, need to watch the other half though
The Who - I can't Explain

Do Cage the Elephant love old sayings? First with 'In one ear', now it's 'Ain't no Rest for the Wicked', class tune though!
Cage the Elephant - Ain't No rest for the Wicked

Finally, another Classic, albiet more recent, Radiohead's stellar track, 'Paranoid Android'
Radiohead - Paranoid Android

Also here's a great rendition of the last track by close associate of Radiohead, Adam Buxton

A-polly-ologies
I had no oportunity to post Tuesday Tuneage last week, no access to a pc, see?
Oh well, I think the tracks today will more than make up for it.

They've all had very heavy rotation on my phone recently

First up, its the Ting Tings, there is a skill to making an advert and Apple have mastered it by using 'Shut up and let me go', showing off an ever popular product and matching it up with an increasingly popular band makes excellent commercial sense, in other words - big bucks all round!
The Ting Tings - Shut up and let me Go

Nextly, the Young Knives, this latest single is just an all round brilliant song. And catchy to boot! I love it already and the video is pretty funny too
Young Knives - Turn Tail

Following on, this brilliant live rendition of Radiohead's Bangers n' Mash, sourced from Pitchfork TV - it has Thom on accompanying drums!
Radiohead - Bangers n' Mash

I did end up getting the Raconteurs new album and must say I am very impressed, its definitely bigger and bolder and I personally prefer this new direction of Jack White's 'new' band.
Raconteurs - Consolers of the Lonely

To round off this week's Tuneage, I choose The Futurehead's latest single, a great way to prefice the album and a brilliant follow on from radio-comandeering 'Beginning of the Twist'
The Fuutreheads - Radio Heart

Oh and plus as a bonus, it's Plugs! with That Number, i did promise to post it as I mistakedly posted that remix instead
Plugs - That Number

Ok, second in the annual posts; since last week the following tracks have been on repeat on my walkman phone

first the Hot Chip cover of Wiley's 'Wearing my Rolex' - i believe its better than the original!
Hot Chip - Wearing my Rolex

Side project (or is it first band?) of Morgan from Does it offend you,Yeah? very good I must say
Plugs - That Number
EDIT: I apoligize, I realised that I have put up a remix file rather than the actual song, I'll put it up in my next post

I really like the new WAS single, 'Chick Lit' the video is ace!

Also at this current time I have to say I have been really enjoying Audioslave's 'Cochise', it's old but oh well, it's good to have a mix now and again
Audioslave - Cochise

And to round off this week, it's The futureheads, for along time my favourite band until I properly listened to Radiohead, I think that this is such a great song! Hopefully their 3rd album delivers on the promises of revitalising their career
Futureheads - Broke up the Time

I want to calm down abit with the posts and think that i'll start a regular tuesday piece, well mainly for the alliteration lolz.

This is going to hold my 5 favourite songs at the current time, in no particular order mind you!

Firstly, Vampire Weekend, my new favourite of theirs, 'Boston', it makes me very happy and feel upbeat, if that's possible
Vampire Weekend - Boston mp3

Next, Last Shadow Puppets, i think that 'In my Room' is an amazing song, the orchestral pieces just astound me.
Last Shadow Puppets - In My Room mp3

Following on, I still absolutely adore 'In Rainbows', ok, it's an oldish album now but c'mon! It's pure genius, the only song I have a dislike for is 'Videotape', I currently really love listening to the clappable intro track, '15 Step'
Radiohead - 15 Step

Forth on today's list is; The Raconteurs! I was pleasantly surprised by new single, 'Salute your Solution', I never bothered to get the second album and I am seriously considering it soon, in the meantime I love this video!

Lastly, a song which is more poignant for me seeing as it is exam time at the moment, I did sehr gut in meine Deutsch sprechen exam(?) today, its The Metros, with 'Education Pt 2', its very catchy, but whatever happened to part 1?
The Metros - Education Pt 2 mp3

Enjoy!
