In my 100th post and on Halloween especially, I present the 5 scariest songs ever! And not the ones that are just shouting!


Radiohead - National Anthem
It spooks me out as soon as that sinister bass line kicks in, there's something evil in the track and Thom Yorke's vocals don't help out, been amplified with a weird metallic effect, he sounds like a squealing robot and i mean a robot IN PAIN. Plus singing "everyone's got fear" is just scary enough.

Arcade Fire - My Body is a Cage
The church organ does it for me, the lyrics are sinister and foreboding enough, but the organ, god damn it sounds evil and damning, like this tale leads to hell. The drum beat as well, what's that about? it sounds like it could jump out and attack someone

Justice - Stress
You'd be forgiven for thinking you were suddenly in some highly tense movie. The beat is just freaky, ain't it? building and building like danger is round the corner, I would not like to listen to this while out at night.

The Zutons - You've Got a Friend in Me
It's not the music here, but the sinister stalker lyrics, it's just frightening the prospect of what the singer describes.

We Are Scientists - Ghouls
I chose this basically because of the title, that's scary, right? It's got a slow, mellow but also frightening beat, the questioning lyrics sung almost monotonously add to the suspense/tension


So there you have it, I hope you're significantly more frightened than you were say half an hour ago.

Ok, I do know the drummer, Tom (pictured above), I love this song though. Seeing as I now have a hypem listing I thought I should post this is an effort for the band to get a little more attention. There is a rather big amount of promise there I think.

Arctic Monkeys - Flourescent Adolescent (acoustic)
I don't know how/why, but Alex Turner's vocals on this sound much, well human. If that makes sense. There seems to be more behind his voice and the cough he has is just humbling. He's no god, just a great musician/lyricisst. The whole mecca dobber/betting pencil line is hilarious.

Armand Van Helden - You Don't Know Me (GRUM Remix)
Now this is my favourite remix ever, they took a personal favourite dance track and spiced it up, making it ten times better and I just love every second of it. It's just a song that deserves a second, third and fourth consecutive listen. Too me I can see a Justice influence, but I could be wrong. Well done, GRUM

Radiohead - 15 Step (Live @ Lollapalooza 2008)
Regular readers may have read before of my love for Radiohead, I love the band, one of my ambitions is to see them live. This track is a favourite of mine that just somehow sounds amazingly good live, even on recordings, which you have to admit can never compare to being there.

Foals - Olympic Airways
Quite like this new single of Foals, the video is an almost certain head-trip mind-fuck of the Oxford band, it's competely non-senseical but still looks good, Yannis painted black is actually rather interesting, like, how could he have not got it on his face when they're thowing it at him.

I'll be on the college bus by the time this is posted (thanks again to scheduled posting) EEK! I ca't wait for college! YEAH

It's gcse results time!
Today I'll be getting them and hopefully fun times will ensue!

It's gunna be funfunfun, as I've said to a friend there will be crying and booze whatever the outcome. Also it will be FUN.

Taking it's toll on me, that depression is. I'm still feeling shitty and really badly upset. Yeah she text me but how could i reply with no credit? The 2nd text sounded pissy, like she's the one upset. YEAH RIGHT. Try standing in my shoes! Not moaning at all but I just love it that she had to go and kiss some guy she met there, practically a stranger and it's even more ironic that all this would never have happened if I hadn't told my mate to invite her. It's like just trying to rub in the fact that I can't be with her. Brush me aside, someone who genuinely cares for her, chose him over me, someone who is on the rebound looking for fun. I'm not trying to horrible to her but she was just manipulated, I can see him and his mate laughing about it in the morning. HE don't give a shit about her. I do and I get nothing but misery. Yet she just seemed happy about meeting this guy, her friend said to me that she's just going to get her hopes up and be disappointed, how d'you think I feel?! I actually hopes she is now, so she can see how I've been feeling these last couple of days. Overall that night has been possibly the worst of my life. Thanks, you've made me feel so much better about myself! NOT!

I'm feeling that my self-esteem is at a possible all time low. I try not to let stuff drag me down, but this is succeding at it already. GOSH!

I know this is like incredibly personal but I just need to vent it all out right now. I can't think straight enough to conjure up anything else to write about. I know this like a turning point, a definitive part of my life that I will probably never forget. As depressing as it is, things can only get better right?

HELL YEAH! 50 posts!

2 and a 1/2 months of blogging, and 50 posts down the line, I've enjoyed it and still do, as I love music I love blogging about it. It's just something that has already become a big part of my life and I truly wish I had started earlier in the year.

Also to be honest rather annoyed that I'm not listed with Hype Machine, I mean, I meet the criteria! Ah well, fingers crossed I will be soon.

Wanting to post a few songs, totally unrelated, but they are rather liked by myself

Flight of the Conchords - Ladies of the World

Radiohead - House of Cards I'd post the amazing video, but undoubtedly it is abound amongst blogs right now, I personally need to find somewhere other than Youtube to watch it as the version there is rather grainy.

Roots Manuva - Buff Nuff I love this song's chorus.

I think there is some really beautiful music out there, and there is one band I know of that you can rely upon to produce deep, touching songs, songs that make you think, stop still and ponder life for a few moments. Well at least, that is the effect they have upn myself. The band I'm talking about is Elbow, Guy Garvey and co have in the last few years made some of the best songs I have ever heard.

To prove my point, you only need listen to arguably their best album Cast of Thousands, there are songs there that exemplify the beauty of their music.

Elbow - Ribcage
Typical of Elbow, build the song from an almost silent start to a crescendo of sound that is possibly the best album opener around.

Elbow - Grace Under Pressure
This is an anthem, Guy Garvey's vocals are simply stunning, the gospel choir backing helps to lift this and

Both of the above songs are just so touching, they can give me goosebumps.

Of course there are other songs in the world that hold a beauty, are musically beautiful works of art, though some can hold a mere beauty in the words, in the voice of the singer and the best examples of this are my most loved bands, Radiohead and Joy Division.

Radiohead - Idioteque
The lyrics are chilling, the music almost mechanical yet to me this song is beautiful, Thom Yorke's voice building the song with the beat and unique electronice sounds accompanying his amazingly talented voice.

Joy Division - Isolation
It's not the music that makes this special, it's solely Ian Curtis singing. It's indescribable how much this amongst the other Joy Division songs affects me, it's here there is an admittance of self loathing and his regret shines through, "Mother I tried please believe me/I'm doing the best that I can/I'm ashamed of the things I've been put through/I'm ashamed of the person I am" The music may sound a bit dated but still.

I've put the labels as happy and depressed because these songs bring forth both emotions I think, they're contemplative, making any listener really think I believe. These are no badly written pop rock songs to storm the charts, this is music of the highest calibre.

Ok well, the blog I feel is going up in the world, I think each post attracts more people and hopefully it actually does. My aim is to get over 50 subscribers. I've increasingly become both fascinated and obsessed with the hits and readers after recently putting my feed through feedburner. The facts it gives are very intriguing

I'll try to hold back from becoming too obsessed. Anyway I have a BARE HENCH (really big) post coming up soon, I think most people will like it.

I love Guitar Hero, and being in the UK I anticpate Rock Band's release (on PS3), luckily I tried that game in a shop in New York in February, so have an idea of the difference between it and Guitar Hero. I know plenty of musicians HATE Guitar Hero, Rock Band and whatever next music rhythm games come out. I can see why, it IS rather stupid to see playing Guitar Hero cooler than playing an actual guitar BUT I myself have zero musicial ambitions, i've already attempted to learn guitar and failed miserably, Guitar Hero lets me live out that ill fated dream as a successful musician and with songs I enjoy. You have to admit that the games have such an amazing playlist.

I was going to make Tuesday Tuneage a fortnightly piece as the unfortunate gap worked well I believe. However, a few songs have come to me which I believe need posting! And since I missed last Tuesday, Friday will have to do!

I adore this song by Tokyo Police Club, heard it a little while back, near the begining of the year and now a video has popped up on MTV2 and NME TV, my two favourite music channels, so hearing it again I just now love the song, every fricking second of it!

They've all had very heavy rotation on my phone recently

First up, its the Ting Tings, there is a skill to making an advert and Apple have mastered it by using 'Shut up and let me go', showing off an ever popular product and matching it up with an increasingly popular band makes excellent commercial sense, in other words - big bucks all round!

A few songs that I listen too if upset

Radiohead - Reckoner It just makes me reflect, makes me feel possibly worse, its a song i don't know how I lived without, I'm not trying to sound melodramatic but this song helps and hinders in equal measure, I love the song and in particualr Thom Yorke's voice.

Joy Division - Love will tear us apart I think this song needs no introduction at all to be honest, it haunts me with Ian Curtis' voice and I love every second of it even if it is the only song by Joy Division given any recognition

Forth on today's list is; The Raconteurs! I was pleasantly surprised by new single, 'Salute your Solution', I never bothered to get the second album and I am seriously considering it soon, in the meantime I love this video!


Lastly, a song which is more poignant for me seeing as it is exam time at the moment, I did sehr gut in meine Deutsch sprechen exam(?) today, its The Metros, with 'Education Pt 2', its very catchy, but whatever happened to part 1?
